Mammoth Lakes, Red Meadow, June Lake & Tioga Pass

Agnew Horse Camp is located in Reds Meadow Valley, just west of the full-service community of Mammoth Lakes, California. This equestrian camp provides access to some of the most spectacular wilderness in the Sierras and many outdoor activities such as horseback riding, fishing, hiking and photography. Devils Postpile National Monument and the famous Ansel Adams Wilderness are nearby, and a pack station with several amenities is just down the road.

The campground sits in a lodgepole pine forest surrounded by high peaks, adjacent to creeks and a small lake, at an elevation of 8,400 feet. Spring and early summer wildflower displays bring even more color to the landscape. Many species of wildlife call the mountains home, such as black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika and many species of fish and birds.

Popular with large families, this group camping facility provides access to some of the most spectacular wilderness in the Sierras and many outdoor activities such as horseback riding, fishing, hiking and photography. Devils Postpile National Monument and the famous Ansel Adams Wilderness are nearby, and a pack station with horseback riding tours and supplies is just down the road.

This campground is a great base camp for hiking the area's many trails. Within a few miles, campers will find the High Trail, Shadow Creek Trail and River Trail, all open to hiking and horseback riding. Trailheads to the Ansel Adams Wilderness and Pacific Crest Trail are in the vicinity. Hikers are required to ride a shuttle to the trailheads. Fishing enthusiasts can try for trout in the many area lakes or the North Fork of the San Joaquin River.

Elevation: 7,490 feet., 45 campsites are available. Campsites can accommodate a 40 foot vehicle. Drinking water is usually available in the campground. Tables, bear boxes, and fire rings provided. Each campsite has a bear locker. This is Bear Country. Please store food properly and don't feed the bears. Vault toilets are available.

Perched at 7,800 ft, Big Bend Campground sits along the Lee Vining Creek, a 16.2 mile long stream with a few smaller waterfalls and great fishing holes. Big Bend Campground has impressive views of Tioga Pass as it carves its way up to the eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park.

Coldwater Campground is located high in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains near the town of Mammoth Lakes, California. The surrounding national forest provides many opportunities for family fun, outdoor recreation and relaxation. Hiking, fishing, road cycling and picnicking are just some of the favorite activities available to campers.

Coldwater offers easy access to fishing for rainbow, brook and brown trout in Lake Mary. Major trailheads lead into the backcountry. Several interesting trails offer a variety of hikes, including the 5-mile Duck Pass Trail, which climbs the forested hillside behind the campground and passes several lakes before heading over Duck Pass to join the John Muir Trail.

Ellery Lake Campground is located at Ellery Lake east of Tioga pass, the east entrance of Yosemite National Park. Elevation is 9500 feet.

Gull Lake Campground is a small, shaded and private facility in the June Lake area of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Within a few miles, campers can access two lakes with fishing and boating opportunities, scenic views and the small town of June Lake.

A variety of water and land-based activities surround the campground. Nearby June Lake offer great rainbow trout fishing. Campers also enjoy paddling down Mono Creek or hiking the area's various trails, including one to Mammoth Rock and scenic Sherwin Lakes and Gaylor Lake Trails. A drive along the June Lake Loop results in expansive views of rugged mountain peaks and several lakes.

Located near the Tioga Pass entrance of Yosemite National Park, Junction Campground is at the junction of Highway 120 and Saddlebag Lake Road. Set among pines at 9,600 ft. elevation, most of the 13 campsites have shade.

Easy access to fishing, a marina and boat rentals make June Lake Campground a favorite spot for both families and anglers. The facility sits in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in close proximity to the Ansel Adams Wilderness, Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake. The town of June Lake offers the convenience of shopping and dining, while the surrounding land and lakes provide ample outdoor recreation opportunities.

Campers have no problem staying busy and enjoying the outdoors. Fishing for rainbow and Alpers trout, canoeing, boating and walking are just some of the activities available around the lake. Numerous trails lie minutes away, an obvious draw for hikers, mountain bikers and off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The Fern Lake Trail, a short drive away, leads into the scenic Ansel Adams Wilderness. Skiing is a major winter pastime in the area. A drive along the June Lake Loop results in expansive views of rugged mountain peaks and several lakes.

Lake George Campground is located a short walk from the shore of Lake George. Snug between the solitary white tower of Crystal Crag and the granite wall of the Mammoth Crest is Lake George. Campers who like a high elevation lake setting can find paradise at Lake George. Fifteen sites perch alongside the scenic lake at 9,000 feet and share a small parking lot with hiking trailheads, a boat rental dock and a few cabins. This campground is very popular with fishermen and families.

Lake Mary is the star of the Mammoth Lakes region. Of the 11 lakes in the area, Mary is the largest and most developed. Lake Mary Campground is a large facility with plenty of amenities in and around it. The lake provides a great base for activities like fishing, viewing waterfalls, hiking and backpacking.

Lake Mary receives the highest number of trout stocks in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, and is well-known to anglers for its rainbow, brook and brown trout fishing. No swimming or wading is allowed in the lake. Though no hiking trails begin in the campground, several interesting trails offer a variety of hikes nearby, including day hiking and backpacking trails into the rustic John Muir Wilderness.

Campground is situated at 7,300 feet. 51 campsites are available. No drinking water. Portable toilets. 14 day stay limit. Each campsite is equipped with a bear locker for food storage. Tables, bear boxes, and fire rings provided.

Minaret Falls campground is located near Mammoth Lakes, CA. Some campsites border the San Joaquin River, some sites have a view of Minaret Falls. There is a trail that passes by the river from the campground. A small store, restaurant, and hot showers for a fee are at the end of the road at Red's Meadow.

Please note: access to the campground is a narrow, single-lane road. Shuttle fee applies for travel into Reds Meadow Valley.

Mammoth Lakes Basin is located through town, just 5 to 10 minutes drive. The campground is located across the road from Lake Mary on the Northeast side.

Reflecting in its clear waters the white monolith of Crystal Crag and the dark granite wall of the Mammoth Crest, Lake Mary is the crown jewel of the Lakes Basin.

The campsites at Pine Glen Campground are located under the shady canopy of a mature Jeffery pine forest at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Many species of wildlife call the mountains home, such as black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika and numerous fish and birds.

Pumice Flat Campground and Group Campground is located in the Red's Meadows and Devils Postpile section of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, just west of the full-service community of Mammoth Lakes, California. This group camping facility provides access to some of the most spectacular wilderness in the Sierras and many outdoor activities such as horseback riding, fishing, hiking, photography and geologic study of the dramatic landscape. Devils Postpile National Monument and the famous Ansel Adams Wilderness are nearby for campers to explore.

This campground is a great base camp for hiking the area's many trails. Within a few miles, campers will find trailheads to the Ansel Adams Wilderness, Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trails. There is a mandatory shuttle that takes hikers to nearby trailheads. Fishing enthusiasts can try for trout in the lake or the North Fork of the San Joaquin River.

Reds Meadow Campground is located off Minaret Summit Road near Red's Meadow Resort, a short distance southeast of Devils Postpile National Monument. The campground is popular with hikers along the Pacific Crest Trail and the John Muir Trail who have stopped in at Red's Meadow Resort to pick up supplies. The resort has a small store and a restaurant. They also operate a pack station which offers trail rides to Rainbow Falls and other destinations.

Reversed Creek Campground is a small, shaded and private facility in the June Lake area of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Within a few miles, campers can access two lakes with fishing and boating opportunities, scenic views and the small town of June Lake.

Saddlebag Lake Campground is located way up in the high-country at 10,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountain range next to the lake. All of the campsites have beautiful views of Saddlebag Lake and the surrounding mountains. The area offers fantastic fishing and hiking. Many species of wildlife call the mountains home, such as black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika and numerous fish and birds.

Located near the boundary of the Hoover Wilderness at an elevation of 9800 feet, Sawmill Campground is suited to backpack style camping as you will walk more than a quarter mile on a dirt trail to reach the 12 campsites.

Hiking beyond the campground is day use only as you will enter into a research area. The Harvey Munroe Hall Natural Area has historical records to compare to current research for effects of climate change at high elevation. Please leave no trace and minimize impacts by staying on trails.

Sherwin Creek Campground is located in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains within 2 miles of the full-service community of Mammoth Lakes, California. Popular among anglers, hikers, off-road vehicle enthusiasts and photographers, the campground is near some of the most spectacular wilderness and outdoor recreation areas in the Sierras.

With a motocross track and trails, Sherwin Creek is a hot spot for off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The area's majestic scenery and challenging trails are also a draw for hikers. The Valentine Lake Trail and additional trailheads provide access to the John Muir Wilderness. The eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains are known for their exceptional trout fishing. Anglers can try for rainbow trout in the creek.

Silver Lake Campground is nestled between Silver Lake and the dramatic scenery of the Ansel Adams Wilderness in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. This is a great base camp for fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding and photography. The facility has creekside camping with a boat ramp and pack station nearby.

Rush Creek and 97-acre Silver Lake offer peaceful places for anglers to cast a line for rainbow trout. Boating is allowed on the lake, which has a 10 mph speed limit. The area's majestic scenery and challenging trails are an obvious draw for hiking and horseback riding. A nearby trail provides access to the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Within the facility, campers can go for a relaxing 1-mile walk or horseback ride along Rush Creek. The scenic drive along the June Lake Loop results in expansive views of rugged mountain peaks and several lakes.

Tioga Lake Campgroud is set at an elevation of 9,700 ft., and is situated on Tioga Lake near the Tuolumne Meadows entrance to Yosemite NP.

Trailhead Group Campground is located in the eastern high Sierra Nevada Mountains of California at just over 10,000 feet in elevation. Also known as Saddlebag Lake Group Campground, the facility is adjacent to the scenic lake and provides a quiet mountain getaway for groups of up to 25 people. It is within a two-hour drive of Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake, and lies next to the Hoover Wilderness.

The campground is situated in a high elevation pine forest next to scenic 600-acre Saddlebag Lake, though not directly on the lake shore. Many species of wildlife call the mountains home, such as black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika and numerous fish and birds.

Campers might like to relax and unwind by picnicking in the forested camping area or around the lake. The eastern Sierras are well-known for trout fishing, and Saddlebag Lake is no exception. Anglers can access a boat ramp nearby or try their luck for rainbow, brook and brown trout from shore. The lake has a 15 mph speed limit. The majestic scenery and challenging trails are a big draw for hikers. Close by, campers can access the Twenty Lakes Basin Trail, which leads into the Hoover Wilderness.

Twin Lakes Campground is located in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains near the town of Mammoth Lakes, California. It offers lakeside camping with breathtaking scenery and many outdoor activities. The lake is a great base for fishing, boating, viewing waterfalls and hiking, and offers close proximity to the town's amenities.

The eastern Sierras are known for great trout fishing, and the 108-acre lakes are a prime location for it. Anglers can cast for rainbow, brook and brown trout while watching a waterfall tumble into the lake. The calm waters are also inviting for canoes and kayaks. Power boats must have electric motors. Several trails offer a variety of hikes nearby, including a 4-mile trail on Mammoth Mountain and two shorter nature trails along the lakes. Families enjoy attending educational programs scheduled throughout the summer.

A mid-size campground in Reds Meadow, 20 minutes from Mammoth Lakes, Upper Soda Springs offers sites along the San Joaquin River. Hiking trailheads and trout fishing spots nearby make this a popular destination for both day and overnight visitors. Amenities in the Reds Meadow valley include a general store. Reservations are not available.
